FAQ’s

Staffing

Is there a minimum amount of time required for a staffing contract?

No, the contract is usually established for one year and is renewable but there is no minimum requirement for staffing.

Can I hire the individual if I am pleased with their work?

It is important to identify at the signing of the contract whether this is a temp to hire agreement, recruitment agreement, or a staffing agreement. GHS Staff cannot accept employment with a client unless a “buy out” of the contract is made for staffing services.

What type of screening is done on staffing employees?

All staffing employees are employees of GHS and have taxes and Social Security withheld from their payroll.   For employment, GHS will conduct a a drug screen; a criminal background check; a state and national sex offender check; OIG check; and employment eligibility verification in addition to personal and work related reference checks.

How long before staff can be placed?

Unlike temporary agencies, GHS determines the type of staff required by our client for a particular position before recruiting. GHS works to identify possible candidates for staffing within the shortest time frame.

How are fees determined?

The contract will identify fees that are determined based upon competitive rates within a geographical area and requirements of the position.

Recruitment

Can you guarantee that a suitable candidate will be located?

Given the health care personnel shortages, it is impossible to guarantee a suitable match. However, GHS will extend their search outside the state and the United States if necessary to locate staff.

What is the term of the contract?

The length of the contract is 120 days and can be renewed.

What guarantee does the client have after a candidate has accepted the position?

GHS will refund a pro rata portion of the fee if the candidate should vacate employment during the first 90 days. GHS will also continue to search for a replacement.

Private Duty

Will I have the same caregiver(s) while I am receiving services?

GHS makes every effort to provide a consistent caregiver. There are instances when regular caregivers are ill or have other commitments when a replacement will be sent to provide care.

How are caregivers assigned to a case?

Following the Nurse Assessment, a care plan will be developed that outlines the service and the frequency to be provided. Following the assessment, a careful review of staff is done to select the caregiver whose skills best match those required by the client.

How much notice is required before a caregiver can be placed?

As soon as the client or family member is aware of the need, a call to set up the nurse assessment will expedite the ability to have a caregiver assigned within 1-2 days. (Sometimes even that day!)

Will I know who is coming to provide care?

GHS feels it is important for both the client and caregiver to be introduced prior to care being provided. An introductory visit is planned as soon as a caregiver is assigned.

Is there a minimum number of hours required for private duty?

There are no minimum number of hours required to receive services; however rates do vary depending upon the length of time.

What type of screening is done on the caregivers who provide services?

A criminal background check, drug screen, and reference checks are done on all GHS staff members.

Is GHS licensed to provide care?

Yes, GHS is licensed by the state of North Carolina as a home care and staffing agency.

What should I do if I am uncertain about the services needed?

The Nurse Assessment will be a great start to identifying the needs of the client and how those needs can best be met. We also have a large referral network if you need additional services.

Who will supervise the caregiver?

Caregivers are supervised by the Registered Nurse throughout the care to a client. A visit is made to your residence or facility at least every 60-90 days to determine your level of satisfaction with the service and to determine if services are still appropriate.

How are services paid?

Private Duty care is paid for by the client/family;  some private insurances; Worker’s Compensation; Veterans benefit programs; and those who qualify for special Medicaid programs. All fees will be discussed at the assessment.
